“Mainichi Shimbun Ming-cho” is a Ming-cho type developed by Mainichi Shimbun for use in the body of newspaper text. The font was designed with the presumption that it would be flattened in order to communicate as much information in the text as possible, and is optimized for newspaper printing conditions. Among other Ming-cho types used in newspapers, this font is characterized by its large, clear, open feel. Aside from newspapers and magazines, it is perfect for applications where information is to be relayed objectively. *The font has been designed using Seitai or a square character box. To create the same look as a newspaper typesetting, set the vertical scale to approximately 80%.
